Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy explains how Picture in Picture PiP Floating Video Player handles information while providing its floating video and reel playback features.
Information we handle
The extension processes the current webpage, video element, video stream, page title, and website address only when needed to provide Picture in Picture playback, video controls, reel navigation, fullscreen viewing, and return to source tab features.
This processing takes place locally on your device. The extension does not collect personal information, create user profiles, sell user data, or send your video content, browsing activity, website content, or playback activity to the developer or any third party.
How the extension works
Picture in Picture PiP Floating Video Player detects compatible videos on webpages selected by the user. It can open a video in a floating Picture in Picture player, provide playback controls, adjust volume and speed, support fullscreen viewing, and allow navigation through supported short video and reel feeds.
For supported reels and short videos, the extension may locally mirror the selected tab’s media stream to keep the floating player working correctly. Video and audio are not recorded, downloaded, uploaded, stored, or shared by the extension.
Permissions
The extension requests only permissions required to provide its video playback features:
- Active tab allows the extension to access the current tab after the user clicks the extension button or uses its keyboard shortcut.
- Tab capture allows local media stream handling when needed to display a selected video or reel in the floating player.
- Scripting allows the extension to detect and control compatible video players on the webpage selected by the user.
- Storage saves extension preferences such as language, player settings, and multiple window preference.
- Context menus adds an option to open compatible videos in Picture in Picture from Chrome’s right click menu.
- Website access allows the extension to work with compatible videos, embedded players, reels, and short videos across websites visited by the user.
Storage and preferences
The extension uses chrome.storage to save user preferences such as selected language, Picture in Picture settings, and multiple window preference. Temporary player state may also be stored for the current browser session.
The extension does not store video files, audio files, passwords, payment information, messages, contact details, browsing history lists, or account credentials.
Third party services
The extension does not use analytics services, advertising networks, tracking pixels, remote video processing services, or external data collection services. It does not sell, rent, transfer, or share user data with third parties.
Remote code
The extension does not download or execute remote code. All code and translation resources used by the extension are included within the installed extension package.
Optional Windows helper
If you choose to install the optional Windows helper provided with the extension, it works locally on your computer to help keep extension generated video windows visible. It does not transmit data to the developer or any third party.
Data retention
The developer does not receive or retain user data because the extension does not send user data to external servers. Extension preferences remain in Chrome storage until you change them, remove the extension, or clear relevant browser data.
Security
Video and webpage processing occurs locally within Chrome and the extension environment. The extension does not use remote code, does not upload media, and does not transmit website content to external servers.
Your choices
You control when the extension accesses a video by clicking the extension button, using the keyboard shortcut, or selecting the Picture in Picture option from the right click menu. You can change settings, disable the extension, remove it, or clear extension storage through your Chrome settings at any time.
Children's privacy
The extension is intended for general audiences and does not knowingly collect personal information from children.
Changes to this Privacy Policy
This Privacy Policy may be updated if the extension’s features or data handling practices change. Any updated version will be published on this page.
